Lahey Clinic’s Annual Cancer Walk & 5K Run will take place rain or shine on Saturday morning, June 2. The events, held simultaneously on the Burlington and Peabody campuses, are open to all to raise funds to enhance Lahey’s cancer services in both locations.

Northeast Health System and Lahey Clinic Foundation announced today that their affiliation agreement is complete and they have officially established the Lahey Health System.

Lahey Clinic appointed two new clinical chairmen. Zoher Ghogawala, MD, FACS, was named the Charles A. Fager Chair of Neurosurgery, while Lifei Guo, MD, PhD, FACS, was named the chair of the Clinic’s plastic and reconstructive surgery department.

Lahey Clinic has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Thomson Reuters, and the only such hospital recognized in the Boston-area. The Thomson Reuters study examined the performance of more than 1,000 hospitals by analyzing outcomes for patients with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions such as angioplasties.

Lahey Clinic was one of nearly 20 Massachusetts businesses and agencies recently honored for their support of English Works, a public-private campaign designed to offer immigrant workers the opportunity to master the English language while on the job.

The Northeast Health System (NHS) Board of Trustees announced on July 19 that, by unanimous vote, it has accepted the recommendation of its Affiliation Advisory Committee that Northeast Health System affiliate with Lahey Clinic through the formation of a new organization.

Lahey Clinic has been approved as a member institution of SWOG (formerly known as the Southwest Oncology Group), a clinical research cooperative that designs and conducts large scale trials of new cancer treatments and prevention regimens.
